Tomorrow, Is June 24, 2009. Some pretty interesting things have happened throughout history on June 24th: Picasso held his first art exhibit at age 19; The FTC in 1964 required the surgeon general's warning to be placed on cigarette packages ( awarning that holds true today: Smoking is hazardous to your health); and the great American Boxer, Jack Jempsey was born. On THIS year's June 24th, we expect that Cell Phone Manufacturer HTC will have an exciting announcement to make. We largely expect, that this will be the day that the HTC Hero is debuted.
All signs point to a pretty major annoucement taking place in London, with a simultaneous satellite event taking place in New York. This is a WORLD-WIDE announcement, and I, for one, suspect that it will tie in somehow with T-Mobile's Bright Lights event, which is scheduled to take place on the following day, June 25th. Maybe we will get lucky, and be able to count the MyTouch as the 3rd Android device, not the second. Maybe, just maybe, the HERO will be made available, this week around the world. Maybe, I am wrong. Here is what we do know:
- The event has been pretty secretive, with no major news blogs picking up any info.
- It will almost certainly tie into the Bright Lights Event.
- Joe likes using these numbered lists.
- The HTC Hero, appears to sport a much more polished UI.
- The Hero is going to be available in 7 colors.
Now, if I were a phone manufacturer, I would not be putting that kind of efffort into a device that I was NOT counting on to make a big splash. I also wouldn't schedule a world wide announcement around the MyTouch. Don't be offended...I just don't think the MyTouch is exactly a groundbreaking device, if anything, once you get past the cool packaging and dock, it is a downgrade from the G1. In this case, I do believe that common sense will prevail, and the World will meet the HTC Hero Tomorrow, sometime around mid-day. What? You have a different idea? Announced
Its Definately an Exciting Month for Surprises. I hope Bright Lights is Indeed linked to this announcement and not just just a Reorganization on how they treat Customers in stores. I just don't want to be let down after being excited like in the past.
i will almost bet money that the Hero will be announced tomorrow for Europe, and Europe only. I also believe the HTC Lancaster for At&t will be shown as well. The fact that the Bright Lights event is on the 28th makes me think that the HTC event may not have anything to do with T-Mobile USA. then again, this is an HTC event but also a Google one, so maybe we might see some Android for T-Mobile and Bright Lights might not have anything to do with Android.
and i bet the myTouch 3G will be showcased there as well.
*sighs*
I would do just about ANYTHING to get my hands on HTC Hero.
*PS trish loves talkin in third person, too
Wouldn't it be GREAT if MYtouch came with ROSIE!!
